is to provide funding for the next phase of connector road design. that includes allocating prop k funds to dpw which will be leading the 30% design effort for the connector road. that includes environmental review as well as starting right at negotiation. the purpose of that is to get more clarity to the schedule and make sure the connector road can move forward in parallel with the bridge replacement project. really make sure we're minimizing that construction overlap period. lastly to appropriate prop k funds to the authority to continue working on planning and project oversight as well as conducting further rounds of outreach to go into the community with the work that we're going to be doing and providing some answers to the community in the spring before we come back to the board. finally that authority piece does include that local business robust outreach strategy to make sure people are aware of and can participate in those contracting opportunities. we'll come back to the community and back to the board in the spring with remaining questions in terms of design, schedule and what the
plan for that in a minute. other work we've done worked with dpw to develop an initial design concept for that connector road to show it's a feasible concept. we've done two rounds of extensive community outreach to share our work as well as interagency coordination with dpw, mta, cal train as well as other local agency partners. diving a little more into the community outreach we've done, we have worked through two prerobust rounds of outreach. first of those were back in spring. we did an open house and other presentation to present the work we had done in the first few months after we got that appropriation and get the community's feedback. we came back to the community in november to present our draft back recommendation how we incorporated a lot of that community feedback before coming here to the board. each of those rounds included an open house with pretty good solid participation as well as notification for that each round including multilingual efforts with efforts to everyone within a half a mile. additional fliers and businesses, neighborhoods, churches, community groups t
and ellis are part of the dpw infrastructure and i say that in quotes a little bit because it's recreation and park garden staff maintains curb to curb in those instances. the true responsibility relies in two departments, but the reality is that parks and recreation garden staff will maintain the trees overtime. this is part of the clean neighborhood, $3.3 million to address this and other park improvements. >> thank you. >> good evening commissioners carla short, department of public works urban forestry. i don't really have anything to add to what dan said, but we did indicate this trees a tree appropriate for removal based on the recent limb failure and the presence of decay already. we're already seeing the signs of decay. the limb -- i didn't see it when it came off the tree as well, but based on what remains and i will switch photos on the overhead. basically this area is that limb that failed. so it does appear that it was probably a similar size to the other limbs, which is very typical for this species. they have a form that is not ideal. it's called decurrent. so they have

initiative was a little over $11,000. most of that goes to dpw for installation. the equipment and supplies themselves were all donated by so-lon, and then we had a little bit of management staff time here at the puc to bring it to $11,000 total. >> thank you. >> other comments. >> with respect to the installation, is this an installation agreement or some record between the public utility commission and the department of public works? >> yes, typically we have a work order. they provide with scope and cost, and we have a work order agreement with them, and that's documented within that process. >> so you issue a work order. and then they determine what the scope of work is? >> we tell them what our needs are, and then they provide us with a scope and cost. and then we say, okay, if we are comfortable with that assessment of the cost and the scope covers the work we identified that we needed. then we work order the funds to dpw. it comes to us like a bid from dpw. >> is that in the record? is the actual response, the department of public works is that in the record? >> typically yes, it's p

[laughter] >> it's great to see all of you here today. you know, earlier this year, particularly during the budget negotiations, supervisor carmen chu and i and a number of other supervisors engaged in a lot of discussions about what our neighborhood small businesses could benefit from as we saw indications of our budget recovery. and clearly we understood and have always understood the role of small businesses. and they're the backbone of the city and our office of economic development was headed by todd who is here and joaquin is helping out with the investment neighborhood strategy. we wanted to really demonstrate that, our commitment. not just by saying it, but actually doing things that would really support our small business. scott and henry and many others, benny and others who have been around us know that my favorite thing is to go to a neighborhood commercial corridor like terra val or out in the sunset noriega and have meals or breakfast or a cup of coffee and really find out all the distinctions that each neighborhood has to

of the transit center project. this is actually within that phase one project. we looking to meet with dpw the next main point of discussion how the environmental phase of that project will move forward. >> i just wanted to mention as far as the masonic, i think the district 11 definitely under serve as it relates to transit dollars. of course the bike rider in that particular part in district five it's very high. this has been one of those -- i think there should be more maybe conversation negotiation around some of this but certainly this has been one of the areas where bicyclist have been -- i know there have been two fatalities that i can think it. there does need to be attention given to providing a safer environment for bike pad purposes. you think that might be one of the reasons behind prioritizing this in the way that we have. it's part of obviously different picture. i wanted to make sure i put that out there. >> top two projects here, this is really unique project. it's in the middle of the park. it touches three different districts. actually in the prop double a program, we're
